There was a very old farm house here, built in the 1800’s with outbuildings and all the workings of a farm. We had big dreams of redoing this farm house and making it ours, filling its walls with more stories and history than it already had. But much to our dismay, after gutting the inside down to the beams, we found the termites made their home inside long before anyone knew about it. The beams were rotten beyond repair so a local fellow came and worked his magic. He tore down the house piece by piece, in my head it was story by story— because well that’s what truly builds a house— and salvaged what he could.
